God has a plan for you

“Pharaoh said to Joseph, Your father and your brothers have come to you, and the land of Egypt is before you; settle your father and your brothers in the best part of the land. Let them live in Goshen. And if you know of any among them with special ability, put them in charge of my own livestock.”

Genesis 47:5-6

Today we finish our journey through the life and story of Joseph.

We learned that God had a plan for Joseph from the very beginning. He gave him visions that would cause the hardened hearts of his brothers. So hard that they sold him into slavery. God caused Potiphar’s wife to have a hardened heart because Joseph would not sleep with her. God caused the cupbearer to have a hardened heart and forget about Joseph’s ability to interpret dreams.

You see if Joseph would not have been in the right (or wrong) place at the perfect time none of this would have happened and in the end, his entire family would have wasted away from the famine.

God’s plan for Joseph was greater than he or anyone in his family could have ever imagined. His plan was for Joseph to be a great leader.

One of the things that I constantly think about as I read through John’s journey is, how did you not lose heart? How did he know that God had a bigger plan for him? Am I following God;s plan blindly as Joseph did? Why am I complaining about the trials I face? I have never been accused of rape, or sold into slavery, or thrown into prison.

God has a plan for you. You might not see it right now, you might be in the middle of it and don’t even realize it. You might know you are right where God needs you to be. Wherever you are on your journey please trust that the same God that created the heavens and earth created you and, YES he does have a plan for you. Know that God loves you and will allow you to succeed in everything you do. You might not succeed on the first try but that’s ok, it allows us to learn.

Prayer

Lord today we come to you on our knees asking that you help us to see how we can better serve you. We come to ask that you take a few moments out of your busy day to show us exactly what you need.

Then God, we ask you for the courage to go out into the world and serve you the way you want is to. We pray to God for your guidance and wisdom in every aspect of our lives. We are thankful that you allow us to serve others. We are thankful that you give us those opportunities.

We pray that you would help all of those around us who might not fully understand what being a servant really is. Help them to see how being a servant is the highest honor we could ever ask for. Lord thank you for the wonderful title of

Amen
