Teaching Through Parables
“Then Jesus said to them, Don’t you understand this parable? How then will you understand any parable?“
Teaching through parables.
Parables are the way Jesus (the best teacher that ever walked this earth) taught everything.
What is a parable? Simply put, it is a story that you use to teach a lesson.
Why did Jesus teach only in parables? A lot of people think that it was so people would not be able to understand. The truth is that people understand better when you teach through stories and Jesus knew that.
He wasn’t trying to hide things he was trying to get everyone to understand the love God has for everyone.
Take a moment and think back on when you last taught someone, did you use a parable? Did they receive the information well or was it hard to understand?
You might not know this about me, but I do a lot of teaching in my career. I almost always use parables to teach because it simplifies what I am teaching. I mean, who really wants to learn about federal regulations in the transportation sector. So to help my clients have a better understanding, I use stories to help make the regulations understandable.
Lord, we come to you today to say thank you. Thank you for giving us the tools that we need to accomplish your will. Thank you for allowing us to teach your word. Thank you for allowing us to live in a country where we can worship you openly. Thank you for having your son teach us using parables so we understand your teaching more easily.
Today God we ask that you grant us the wisdom to fully understand the parables that your son taught many years ago. We ask that you help us to teach others using parables that are easy to understand. Lord thank you for everything that you give unto us every day.
Will you pray with us?
