Sins

She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus because he will save his people from their sins.”

Matthew 1:21

What a powerful thought. Someone, other than God will be able to save people from their sins and offer the gift of forgiveness!

AMAZING!

We all struggle with sin in one way or another. And all sin is equal. We might not see it that way as humans, but to God, all sins are the same.

Joseph had made his mind up that he was going to divorce Mary because she was pregnant. We could assume that he thought that she was lying to him about being a virgin. You know because she got pregnant while they were together, and it definitely wasn’t his child.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. Matthew 1:20 NIV

God knew what Joseph was thinking and also knew what he was planning to do. God saved Joseph from sinning.

This time of year we celebrate Jesus’ birth by giving gifts from our love.

I want to encourage you to give the gift of forgiveness to everyone who has ever wronged you. Give the gift that you can put no $$ value on. After you give that gift watch as your worries and stress lift off of your shoulders.

Forgiveness is the gift that Jesus gave you, so it only makes sense that is the gift that we should give everyone.

Prayer

God, we come to you today to say thank you for bringing your son to the world to save us from our sins.  That is a gift that no one else could have offered. Help us to give others the same gift, the gift of forgiveness. Please open our hearts, minds, and bodies to you as we pray the prayer you sent us through your son.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

Amen
